Pun Intended
-
April 2, 2007
It may sound like an oxymoron, but I am now also part of a band that plays the most original cover songs on the beach. Pun Intended is four multi-instrumentalists that take your typical cover song and turns it on its head using different instrumentations, arrangements and phrasing - while not just keeping the party vibe, but elevating it to a whole new level. Demos are going out all over the grand strand soon - so come check out one of our April shows. Who doesn't want to get in on the ground floor of a good time?
New Year's Greetings
-
January 11, 2006
Hi everyone!
I hope 2006 finds you healthy, wealthy and wise! In these parts, there is much on the musical horizon this year.
First off, I have completed my scratch tracks and will begin recording my second album soon. It is tentatively called "Miles" and will be 11-13 tracks of new material and possible a cover song. This album will be awash in the finest guest musicians the area has to offer. Look for a release of early October. As a side note, I will be having a CD release party for this album, and Myrtle Beach is quite nice in the fall...keep it on your calendar.
I have finished a demo for my new song "I Cannot Turn and Walk Away"
It has been uploaded to my Myspace Artist Account for those of you who wish to give it a listen or a download:
http://www.myspace.com/brianroessler
This is most likely the last demo I will release before the album.
Also...prior to the album, I will be taking the newer materials off this website and replacing them with live tracks of both original and cover materials - both solo and the "Pun Intended" project featuring area bluesman My Buddy Todd, as well as yours truly. So keep checking back there for something different and interesting.
Stop by anytime. Sign the guestbook. Send me an email. I always love to know what's going on with you because, without you, I wouldn't be where I am today!
Thanks.
Until later, peace
Brian
November 11, 2005
With the holidays fast approching and time at a premium, I just wanted to take a moment to wish you the best, and to thank you for your support in my musical ventures through the years. I have some new songs in the works, and will have some demos ready soon. Stop by the site and check it out if you haven't been there recently. Say "Hi" and sign the guestbook. It means so much to me to be so blessed.
Sometimes I feel guity about my life's blessings of friends, fans and good fortune.
That being said...I am performing next Tuesday with My Buddy Todd and Big Bam Boom at the
Wave 104.1 Marathon for Meals
The
Wave 104.1 Marathon for Meals is an annual event, now in its third year, where my friend Scott Mann, the afternoon Drive-Time DJ at Wave 104.1 stays on a stage at Broadway at the Beach and sleeps in a camper until a motorcycle trailer is filled with non perishable food items for the Myrtle Beach Community Kitchen and Helping Hands...to help those less fortunate during the holidays.
If you get the chance to stop by and say hello while I'm playing, I'd love to see you. Even if you don't get a chance...if you have some extra non perishables you could donate to your local community food bank...it would be very appreciated by someone you'll probably never meet.
End of the CDBaby Program

I got this email today...proof independent musicians do make a difference
Brian -
Just a short note to say THANK YOU for putting your CD sales in the
Red Cross charity.
In the end, it raised a total of $165,060 over the last 7 weeks, sent
directly to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund through our local
Portland Oregon branch.
(You should have seen their faces when we brought in that very first
check, in person, for $113,000!)
We quietly brought the special program to a close last night after
sending the last check, so we will go back to sending the entire
amount of your sales directly to you. Obviously, you can choose to
send the money wherever you want, if you wanted to keep donating your
income to charity. It's just that we can't do it for you anymore.
Thanks again.

P.S. We donated $40,000 of our own CD Baby money too, in case you
were wondering. So - altogether, that's $165,060 from the artists,
$40,000 from CD Baby = $205,060 donated. I hope it helps!

September 24, 2005
I just wanted to thank Big Bam Boom for the recent invite to his 50th Birthday Party. What a blast! The time up on the stage playing songs with a keyboardist/bass player and a drummer I've never met before was too much fun.

News of the month that was
-
April 27, 2005
Thanks to everyone who came out to my shows this month! And a big thanks to Big Bam Boom, My Buddy Todd, and Otis Windley in joining me for the Conway Relay For Life. We helped entertain those who walked around the track, earning money for cancer research. The event raised over $70,000 for a great cause. We will be doing it again at the Loris Relay For Life on May 20...Come and see an upcoming show, or downlaod a new demo. See you soon!

March 29, 2005
Howdy all....
I've just returned from a trip back to my hometown, and I forced myself to not take up an instrument...I wanted to have a musical fast, to see if it would spark creativity on my retun to SC...and so far it seems to be working.
FEEDBACK PLEASE:
If you all would be so kind as to download some of the new demos and email me some feedback, it would be greatly appreciated....
Check back for upcoming show dates at Steamers, Coppers, Crab Catchers, and the Living Room. Also if you have an ipod and can get their "Podcasting" channels, four of my songs have been suplied to them and should be on rotation sooner.
I am also looking to do heavy promoting of my second album to college and AAA radio stations upon its October Release. Tentative date for the release party is either September 30 or October 1, with (also tentative)official release date of October 4.
Of Note

I will be creating scratch tracks and all the needed info to give to my musician friends who will be playing on this album...Thanks to Big Bam Boom for use of his studio!!! Looking forward to seeing all of you real soon. Peace

February 22, 2005
Just an update on travels and travails. It's only February, but that means that it's time to get booked for the spring season...because a good spring means a good summer season. On top of running the open mic, I am getting shows lined up with Steamers and Coppers, and with any luck Crab Catchers and BookSmith's soon. Come to a show and say hello...these are all great places, so if you have the opportunity to frequent them...do so.
American Cancer Society.
-
February 16, 2005
Hi All!
Right now, I am in contact with the people from the Conway chapter of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life to shore up a time slot to play. The event in conway is from 7:00 Pm on April 22, through 7:00 am the next morning.
So if there are interested musicians, come and play along...there will be more than enough time for all! They are not just a great way to give back to the community, but they are as fun as they are fulfilling.
On that note...the ACS is putting on an event on Saturday the 18th of March in the Conway High Auditorium...it is a "Womanless BEauty Pageant" Yep...dudes with beards, in drag and trying to make a buck for cancer research. I will be in Pittsburgh the day of the event, but I am selling tickets and taking donations of all denominations at all the open mics in the area, as well as my shows, or anytime you see me on the street. Tickets are 5 bucks. Donations of any ammount are welcome.
Anything you can do is appreciated..time, money, effort...all in the name of a good cause.
Until later, peace.
Brian
It's gotta be jam, cause jelly don't shake like that.
-
February 15, 2005
I know it's 3 am, and technically this is the 16th, but until I go to sleep...it's the 15th ;-)
What an evening. Just got back from the open Jam at Coastal Ale House, featuring the band Spread. I got up and did my thing, got some nice applause and compliments, but after me a full band came up and my did they jam. Their name was Tru Sol, and they did the best live version of Earth Wind and Fire's "September" that I've heard. If you get a chance to check this band out...do so.
Needless to say, as one guy with a guitar, I was happy to go before a full band with that much energy...but if they are playing near you soon...go see them...you won't be disappointed.
No Footbal = Productive music day
-
January 30, 2005
No footbal to watch today, so I spent some QT with the guitars and the fostex. Have some new demos up on the music page as a tangible result. Also worked on some new lyrics and the likes as well as polished up some covers. Good times.
So download the new songs and tell me what you think. Stop by the guest book and say hello while you're here!
Until we meet again...
Brian.

Hi, Everyone!
I wanted to thank everybody who has stopped by to check the site out...Those of you who have emailed me to say hello, those of you you joined the mailing list, those of you who signed the guestbook...I wouldn't have a site if it wasn't for all of you.
I plan on finishing up some demos this week, so check back for some new songs to downlad! If all works well, I'm going to put a 3-4 song set from one of the open mics up as a downloadable MP3 in the near future as well.
I hope to get back to all of you individually to thank you personally, but with my schedule, that will take longer than it shoud.
Thanks again everybody!

I plan on recording 2 demos this weekend and with luck will have them up by mid week...also new pics from Thursday's open mic. Slow time of the year here. Nothing on the horizon for the weekend except the AFC Championship Game on Sunday....

Submissions
-
January 12, 2005
I submitted "Superhero" for Songwriter's Universe song of the month contest, and I also recently submitted my EPK to vie for a performance slot at the International Pop Overthrow festival. this is the first few in a string of submissions to places I believe I can gain the best possible exposure for my music. I'll let you know more as I know more...
Slow time of year?
-
January 10, 2005
Well, it's the slow time of year here, speaking from a tourist point of view, and thusly the ammount of available paying gigs are down. That being said, the musicians are coming out to the open mics in full force. Some to try out new and original material; some to connect with the scene, and network with newer musicians. Right now there are open mics on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. Check listings or with me if you ever want to come and see a host of amazing musicians all under one roof, and all doing it for the love of playing!
New Music
-
January 9, 2005
Well, 27 new songs have been pared to 15 and I have to cut 3-5 more in preparations for some studio time, for the recording of my second album. I will be recording in the home studio of
Big Bam Boom who will also be helping me produce the album. Look for a few guest musicians and suprises that aren't on the demos that I will be posting and rotating on the site!
